VfB Stuttgart loan Sporting’s Tiago Tomás – record transfer 2023 possible

19 year old attacker

VfB Stuttgart has sealed its desired offensive transfer. As both the Swabians and the releasing club Sporting Lisbon announced on Sunday evening, attacker Tiago Tomás will initially move to the Bundesliga on loan until 2023. VfB then has a purchase option, with which the 19-year-old can reportedly move up to the top position in the ranking of the most expensive purchases in the club’s history.

the “foosball” reported a loan amount of 500,000 euros. According to new information from the magazine, the purchase option is fixed at 15 million euros. The Portuguese junior international is under contract with Sporting until 2025. The homegrown player made his debut for the Lisbon professionals in July 2020 and has since played 66 games, in which he was directly involved in 13 goals. In the current season, however, Tomás has mainly only been used from the bench.

“We have been monitoring Tiago’s development for a long time. He has many qualities that make our game more variable in the offensive area. Tiago was Portuguese champion with Sporting last season and most recently won the League Cup. He also played in the Champions League and proved his qualities there too. We are very happy that he has decided to join VfB and we warmly welcome him to Stuttgart,” said Stuttgart’s sporting director Sven Mislintat.
