Former Bundesliga professional Roberto Firmino returns to Brazil’s squad just a few months before the World Cup.
National coach Tite nominated the Liverpool attacker for the international matches against Ghana and Tunisia at the end of September, as announced by the Brazilian association CBF. The ex-Hoffenheimer had been part of the Brazilian squad for a large part of the World Cup qualifiers, but was left behind after injuries.
Veteran Dani Alves (UNAM Pumas), ex-Bayer Philippe Coutinho (Aston Villa) and Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal, on the other hand, were left out in the 26-man squad around superstar Neymar (Paris Saint-Germain). Central defenders Bremer (Juventus Turin) and Roger Ibañez (AS Roma) were called up for the first time.
Brazil will test Ghana in Le Havre on September 23rd and Tunisia in Paris on September 27th. At the World Cup in Qatar (November 21 to December 18), the record world champion will face Cameroon, Switzerland and Serbia in Group G.
