A Berliner has been sentenced to a suspended sentence after a sit-in in Sweden to protect the climate.
A spokeswoman for the competent court in Stockholm confirmed on Tuesday at the request of dpa that he had been sentenced to the penalty for sabotage and was released.
According to the climate protection group Last Generation, the 30-year-old computer scientist took part in a road blockade of the Swedish campaign Återställ Våtmarker (“Restore bogs”) on August 22.
He was then held in custody for over two weeks. The suspended sentence is therefore four months.
According to a spokeswoman for Last Generation, the judgment of a second German demonstrator from Dresden is still pending. The 40-year-old was released from custody after 16 days.
