South Korea’s typhoon Hinnamnor hits the balance at 10 dead. This has been announced by the local authorities of the country.
The tropical cyclone hit the south coast of South Korea early Tuesday morning, then moved northeast. The storm brought strong gusts and rain.
In the southeastern port city of Pohang, rescue services found seven bodies in an underground parking lot. According to local media, the victims tried to flee the water by taking the car, but were caught trying to get away.
Two more deaths were confirmed on Wednesday in Pohang and inland near Gyeongju, where one person was killed when a house collapsed in a landslide, authorities said. A man in his seventies also died on Tuesday in Pohang after being dragged by the water.
The typhoon displaced more than 4,700 people to get to safety. In addition, about 12,000 houses and buildings were destroyed.

Every summer and early fall, the Korean Peninsula is hit by several cyclones. Hinnamnor is the eleventh this year. A typhoon warning was also issued in isolated North Korea.
