Sjoerd van Ramshorst thinks that Angela de Jong has gone very far in the column she has written about him. “It’s just nonsense of course,” said the NOS presenter.
Angela de Jong wrote last summer in a column that Sjoerd van Ramshorst is the ‘new rising star’ at the NOS. “He is the real dream successor of Mart Smeets, Jack van Gelder and Kees Jansma. He’s confident, charming, doesn’t shy away from a joke and I suspect he doesn’t panic if his autocue happens to malfunction.”
‘It is nonsense!’
An enormous song of praise that, according to Sjoerd, goes very far, he says in the Panorama. “That’s nonsense, of course. I’d rather someone be positive than negative, but this is going a long way, isn’t it? No one comes close to Mart. And I will never be as good as Mart. It’s that simple.”
Is Mart the presenter he looks up to the most? “What I think is great about Mart is that he could always tell a story with a head and a tail. He could improvise, was original and his knowledge at the time was enormous.”
Wilfred Genee
It was also a very different time, says Sjoerd. “He also did almost everything. I don’t think you can compare it to now. The television world has completely changed.”
If we look at the current landscape, is Wilfred Genee his role model? “No, but I do respect him as a presenter. He is a very good interviewer and can switch very quickly. That’s really nice.”
