Johan Derksen has no desire to participate in the Expedition Robinson and Op1 programs. On one show he feels too old, on the other he feels like background stuffing.
It is becoming increasingly difficult for Expedition Robinson to find celebrities who want to participate. The men of VI would be a huge catch, but they all don’t like it. “No not at all. I would never do all those crazy arts. I think that’s more for young people, too,” says Johan Derksen in Today Inside.
‘What a disaster!’
Colleague René van der Gijp agrees. “We’re really too old for that, man. If I were young, I would still try, but now I can’t.”
And Wilfred Genee: “I don’t even want to think about it. What a disaster, man!”
Wilfred thinks it’s an absolute no go to starve himself for weeks on some uninhabited island. Although he might prefer that again than to join his arch-enemy Fidan Ekiz in Op1 again.
Not in Op1
Colleague Johan has less trouble with Fidan, but does not want to be in Op1. “Those people have such a hard time getting the tables full… They’re sitting next door and a lady like that really chased me all day. Today again, yes. Or do I want to cross over.”
That is not what Johan intends to do, however. “That lady from the AD always does that. He then walks to the next door and then she has another hour of that chat open. I can’t bear it. Plus, those tables are packed, you know. You speak for two minutes and when you have said something, you have to sit in the back on the reserve seat.”
Background
Johan has absolutely no need to act as a background. “I’m not interested in any of that. I did say: I only do it with Fidan and Sven. I’m not going to sit with the others anyway. But I’m not going to sit here first and then there.”
Table guest Wierd Duk, Fidan’s lover, then says that he has a negative attitude towards a performance in De Slimste Mens. “I was once asked for De Slimste Mens, but I didn’t dare because of my bad memory. I can’t remember anything.”

Would Johan be interested in that? No, neither. “I don’t dare to go to De Slimste Mens, because if you’re unlucky you come across as a notorious dumbass.”
He concludes: “There are hardly any programs in the entertainment industry that I would like to participate in.”
