In Reinickendorf, a man fled an apartment on Sunday morning, attacked and injured two police officers.

A 27-year-old woman alerted the police to the Märkisches Viertel on Sunday night. A man was standing on her balcony and wouldn’t leave. He also refused when police officers asked him to leave the apartment. Other officers were called in to assist.

The 29-year-old man suddenly ran and met the emergency services called in the stairwell. He immediately attacked them: he attacked a police officer and kicked his head when it was already on the ground.

Only with the use of tear gas could the attacker be stopped and finally arrested.

The police officer who was attacked suffered head injuries that required hospital treatment. He could not continue his service. Another police officer was slightly injured in the arm, he was able to remain on duty.

The suspect suffered eye irritation and was treated at the scene. He was taken into police custody. His blood was drawn there. Eventually he was released.

He now has to answer on suspicion of trespassing, bodily harm and physical assault.
