With a 36:25 (18:11) thrashing of MT Melsungen at the start of the new season, the Rhein-Neckar Löwen handball team underpinned their high ambitions.
The team of the new coach Sebastian Hinze never let the guests get a chance right from the start and initially took the lead in the table thanks to the best goal difference.
The Löwen’s most successful throwers were Croatian international Halil Jaganjac with seven goals, and director Juri Knorr and the new captain Patrick Groetzki, each with six goals. Right winger Groetzki has replaced the longtime captain Uwe Gensheimer, Gensheimer will be his deputy in the future.
