The soccer players of FC Bayern Munich play against Real Sociedad for a place in the group stage of the Champions League. That was the result of the draw on Thursday in Nyon, Switzerland.
The German runners-up have an away game against the Spaniards and play the second leg in front of a home crowd. The first encounter will take place on September 20th or 21st. The second game on September 28th or 29th.
Wolfsburg already qualified for group stage
In the 2nd round of the premier class, a total of twelve teams will be determined that will make it into the group phase. Defending champions Olympique Lyon, FC Barcelona and the soccer players from VfL Wolfsburg and FC Chelsea are directly qualified for this. The group stage will be drawn on October 3rd.
Frankfurt failed as the third starter
Eintracht Frankfurt was the third German starter to lose to Ajax Amsterdam (1-2) in the first qualifying round in August. The final will take place on June 3rd or 4th, 2023 in Eindhoven.
Big plans with Stanway
With star newcomer and European champion Georgia Stanway, the Bayern women are hoping for the big coup in the premier class for the first time this year. Last season, coach Alexander Straus’ team failed in the quarter-finals. The Munich team had previously reached the semi-finals twice.
