Jahn II puts Stadskanaal on the national map with NK beach handball. ‘Only happy faces and we are showered with compliments’

Last Saturday and Sunday, more than seventy teams in ten categories competed for the National Beach Handball Championship at the Beach Park in Stadskanaal.

The women’s team of LIT Malserz ALN and the men’s team of Camelot Handball Tilburg can call themselves champions of the Netherlands after a wonderful weekend. There was also success for the local handball association Jahn II, which is responsible for the organization of the Dutch National Championships. In the men’s C-youth category, Jahn II surprisingly took the bronze.

So proud

“We look back on a fantastic sporting event,” says chairman Ferry Roek of the handball association Jahn II. “We have done well as an association. I am so proud, I have almost no words for it. I get a little emotional about that. In a short period of time, the tournament committee, together with more than 50 enthusiastic volunteers, managed to deliver a major achievement.

Because what had to be arranged – also behind the scenes – after the NHV allocated the Dutch championship to Stadskanaal a few months ago. We did it together.”

Happy faces and many compliments

“We have set the bar very high,” the chairman continues. “And that was certainly appreciated by the participants and the visitors. What a great atmosphere for two days. We have actually only seen happy faces and we were showered with compliments during and after the Dutch Championships.”
