Under its own Silvercrest brand, Lidl has always offered a versatile food processor, the Monsieur Cuisine. Now the discounter is bringing a new smart version of the device. What is the offer?
The Monsieur Cuisine Connect is considered by many to be a cheap Thermomix alternative. Now Lidl is bringing a successor, the Monsieur Cuisine smart, to Germany. So far, the device was only available in other countries. From August 29, 2022 you can get the food processor for 449 euros at the discounter. But what can the machine actually do and is it worth it? TECHBOOK checks the offer.
The Monsieur Cuisine smart at Lidl
The Lidl offer will initially apply to all branches of the discounter from August 29, 2022, and shortly thereafter also to the online shop. The Silvercrest Monsieur Cuisine smart SKMS 1200 A1 is the successor to the extremely popular Connect model. Some functions were taken over, but others are also new on board. After all, the Connect version came onto the market in 2018 and is therefore four years old.
The Monsieur Cuisine smart now costs 449 euros at Lidl, which is 50 euros more than its predecessor. The food processor was always out of stock and was offered for significantly more money on Ebay and Co. But what can the new version do and is it a real alternative to the high-quality but also significantly more expensive Thermomix from Vorwerk?
The specifications of the Monsieur Cuisine smart

An upgrade compared to the Monsieur Cuisine connect
The previous model was already very popular. In comparison, the smart version now brings some innovations such as control via voice command. The video guide about the comparatively larger display (7 inch vs. 8 inch) is also new on board. There are also new automatic programs with which eggs, for example, can be cooked precisely. In addition, sous-vide preparation is now also possible.
Particularly practical: an additional handle on the blender jug. With this, the manufacturer is actually responding to customer feedback, as the additional, larger handle enables operation with just one hand. The motor power is also comparatively stronger, so that larger amounts of dough can now be kneaded by the machine at once.
The Monsieur Cuisine smart is therefore an upgrade compared to the previous version. The new functions also justify the 50 euro higher price. However, anyone who already has the connect does not necessarily have to buy the smart.
Conclusion: Is the Lidl offer worth it?
With the Monsieur Cuisine smart for 449 euros, Lidl delivers a versatile food processor full of practical functions. The connect was often referred to as a cheap Thermomix alternative and the smart delivers a lot more. If you compare the price of the devices with the Thermomix TM6, there is still a clear gap; this costs 1399 euros.
In terms of design, handling and the number of recipes, the Thermomix remains unchallenged. But if you are looking for a much cheaper alternative, you are well advised to go with the new Monsieur Cuisine smart from Lidl.
