Nafti started with changes in the eleven, with four defenders and not five as in the first two days and with the first ownership of the Campaign course. Against Tenerife with a traced system, the initial section was for Levante, with more possession, although the best chance came on the visiting side after a lateral cross by Nacho that Enric Gallego finished off forcefully and slightly above the crossbar (m.13 ).
Levante took twenty-five minutes to finish off the goal, with a centered shot by Cantero that Juan Soriano cleared without too much trouble.
Radically different was his next shot. After a brilliant combination already on the Tenerife field between Pepelu, Iborra and Wesley, the Brazilian gave the ball to Cantero from the edge of the box and the latter, with a violent shot from the right, made it 1-0.
The goal gave Levante wings and disconnected Tenerife. The local team was about to score the second, but Wesley’s header took him out on the goal line with Carlos Ruiz’s head, who was also the protagonist of the last chance of the first half, since he brushed a center from the left with the rival goal beaten and that would have meant the tie.
Cantero seemed willing to be the main protagonist of the clash, as a good individual action allowed him to enter the area from the right lane, but he ran out of energy to hit the center. With no news from Tenerife in attack, Joni Montiel disturbed Juan Soriano with a long free kick, who cleared very hard (m.54).
Ramis sought a reaction with the entry of Borja Garcés and Teto in the 72nd minute. Focused on Levante’s field but without being able to associate fluently, Tenerife’s danger came from set pieces. It was Carlos Ruiz again who almost scored, but this time it was the goalkeeper Cárdenas who avoided the goal under his own net after a lofted header.
Levante was locked up to entrust all its football to the careers of the newly incorporated De Frutos and found the sentence with a goal from Mustafi (m.83) header after finishing off a corner kick. Juan Soriano stopped the German’s first shot, but could not with the second and Levante took, deservedly although without a showy game, their first victory of the course.
