Two men and a woman were arrested Friday night at Vijfhuizenberg and Watermolenstraat in Roosendaal. They were caught around 4:30 am trying to steal a chip cart.
“An alert local resident called the police when he heard strange noises on the street in the middle of the night,” a police spokesperson said. When the man looked outside, he saw a car with some sort of trailer behind it. He didn’t trust it and called 911.
Registered as stolen
When officers arrived, they saw the two men and the woman standing by the trailer. When they checked these three, it turned out that the chip cart was registered as stolen. It turned out that the car had false number plates and another car belonging to one of the suspects had burglary items.
The three suspects from Roosendaal, men aged 32 and 49 and a 29-year-old woman, have been arrested on suspicion of theft and receiving stolen goods. They have been detained for further investigation.
The chip cart has been confiscated and is being returned to its owner.
