Van that drove on after a fatal collision is on camera images

The company car that killed an 85-year-old man in Schijndel on Tuesday was captured by various security cameras that afternoon. For example, according to the police, it can be seen that the van came from the direction of Sint-Michielgestel and recklessly drove on in the direction of Den Dungen after the collision via Moleneind-Noord. The driver is still missing.

According to witnesses, he must have noticed the collision. The victim is from Boxtel.

It was already known that it was a white commercial vehicle of the Mercedes-Benz brand. The accident happened around five to two on the Molendijk-North, between the Busselsteeg and the Kanaaldijk-South in Schijndel.

The victim was hit from behind on his bicycle. Bystanders who saw the accident came to the rescue. The man from Boxtel was taken to a hospital where he died shortly after arrival.

The police suspect that the driver made a traffic error. After all, it was the middle of the day, visibility was good and the victim was cycling right in front of the bus. Furthermore, driving after a collision is punishable by law.

According to witnesses, he must have noticed something of the collision. The police are happy with these reactions and they hope that, in addition to the driver in question, other witnesses will also come forward.
