Krösche comments on the Trapp rumors

Sports director Markus Krösche hopes that national soccer goalkeeper Kevin Trapp, who has been courted by Manchester United, will remain at Eintracht Frankfurt.

“Transfer rumors and speculation are part of it, especially at this stage of the season,” Krösche told the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”: “Kevin is an exceptional goalkeeper, a leader and an important player. We’re not interested in leaving.”

In general, however, transfer income is also “part of our business model,” explained the 41-year-old: “We sign players to achieve our goals. If we can do that, our players will be the focus of other clubs. And if a player’s development is faster than ours, it is natural to let him go – provided the financial framework is right.” After all, players “only have a certain amount of time in their careers”.

That’s how it was recently with Filip Kostic, whose new club Juventus Turin is “one step further” than Eintracht. “In terms of budget, we can’t compare ourselves to the big clubs in Europe at all,” said Krösche. Rather, it is about creating competitiveness “through our way of working” and “our philosophy”. The main goal is to become a permanent guest in European competitions.
