Despite a tricky starting position, Bundesliga club 1. FC Köln are very optimistic going into the second leg of the Conference League qualifiers at FC Féhervár.
“We’re still very confident, we know we have to win,” said central defender Timo Hübers before the game in Hungary on Thursday (7:00 p.m. / RTL +). “We want to win – and if possible with a goal more than that.”
FC surprisingly lost the first leg 2-1 when outnumbered, “but we also pushed them in with ten players,” said Hübers. Mark Uth is missing because of a pubic bone surgery, Julian Chabot because of his red card from last week.
Striker Sebastian Andersson replaces Tim Lemperle in the squad. “We expect the opponent to be lower down, so we added a good header,” said coach Steffen Baumgart.
His team will “do everything to play well and win. We’ll see what comes of it.” Financial aspects didn’t play a role for him: “For me it’s about the sporting area.”
