Johan Derksen has not yet demanded a salary increase at SBS 6

Johan Derksen has not yet demanded a salary increase from SBS 6 and does not intend to. That is what the football analyst says in conversation with reporter Lex Uiting from RTL Boulevard.

SBS 6 has had one of its worst summers ever. Without the men from Today Inside, the station is an empty shell. Only when the Johan Derksen talk show is on TV, does the channel manage to hold its own. One thing is therefore clear: John de Mol’s flagship is extremely dependent on the VI trio.

Johan is the cork

Reporter Lex Uiting of RTL Boulevard therefore asks him: “You are actually the cork on which the channel floats. Now the ratings are good again. Have you spoken to John?”

Johan: “Yes, yes, I always check the viewing figures in the media newspaper in the morning and there was a very sensible article on it, that I actually… Tina Nijkamp is the lady’s name. That used to be the boss of SBS 6. He really knows about it and said that my salary should be doubled.”

Strong position

Tina states that the negotiating position of the VI gentlemen is very strong. For example, if they were bought away by a streaming service, the consequences would be “incalculable” for SBS 6, according to her.

Lex: “Have you spoken to John yet?”

John: “No. No. And I won’t, because I think we make a lot of money here.”

Lex: “What do you take a year again?”

Johan: “Yes, I’m not going to say that. I find that so tacky. I always say: doing TV, if you have viewers, is legal stealing. I am very satisfied with it.”

‘I do not say it’

Lex: “You don’t go under half a million, do you?”

Johan: “No, I’m not saying anything.”

Lex: “You are a bit timid. You don’t dare say anything anymore, Johan Derksen.”

Johan: “I don’t think that’s fair.”

Lex: “But you can’t get under half a million, do you?”

Johan: “No, we are well above that, yes. But I will never ask for money on that again.”

700,000 euros

Lex: “Is it a million?”

Johan: “No, I won’t comment on that.”

Lex: “It’s under a million, isn’t it?”

Johan: “I, no, I won’t say anything about the amount. Van der Gijp has already mentioned it a hundred times and it has even appeared in my book, I believe.”

Lex: “Then you can tell it here too, right? What a strange modesty that is. What do you earn, John?”

Johan: “I uhh. Compared to all those people who are now having a financially difficult time, I think that’s showy to flirt with that.”

Lex: “But Gijp says it, it’s in your book. Is it 700 thousand?”

Johan: “Then you check it out. It’s not coming out of my mouth.”
