SBS 6 has had a historically bad summer with scores of under 100,000 viewers in prime time. It has turned out that the station is actually very little if Johan Derksen and his colleagues from Today Inside are not on the tube. Thanks to their comeback, John de Mol sees the viewing figures of his failed flagship immediately rise.

VI immediately back on top

The first Today Inside after the summer break was good for 783 thousand viewers and a 20 percent market share yesterday. This makes VI the most watched talk show in the Netherlands in one fell swoop. Competitor Op1 attracted slightly less attention with 765 thousand viewers (24 percent).

They breathe a sigh of relief at SBS 6. Also at Shownieuws, which has also finally collapsed due to the bad summer figures of SBS 6. “We are all happy that it is back, because things have not been going well with this channel in recent weeks,” said Evert Sankrediets in yesterday’s broadcast.

“What a hit!”

Tina Nijkamp, former broadcaster boss of SBS 6, thinks it is a great achievement. “What a ratings hit! Thanks to the men of Today Inside, the horror summer of SBS 6 is suddenly and finally over. Also in the target group 20 to 54 years a very nice 21.5 percent market share. Hart van Nederland also immediately benefits from the return.”

She continues: “The relief will be unbelievably great at Talpa. And the men of VI could now ask for almost any salary they would like, their success is so great and SBS6/Talpa is so dependent on Wilfred, Rene and Johan. What a ratings hit and that five days a week!”

Prior to Today Inside, Farmers Bibles and Beauties attracted 253 thousand viewers (6 percent).

VO beats VTBL

Wilfred’s new football talk show on Veronica, Veronica Offside, started with 283 thousand viewers (6 percent). At the same time, its direct competitor VTBL attracted 72,000 people (2 percent) to RTL 7. “Emergency consultations will certainly take place today at RTL whether they should not immediately take the program off the air”, says Tina.

The prime-time winners were NPO 2’s De Slimste Mens (1.5 million and 33 percent) and RTL 4’s B&B Vol Liefde (912 thousand and 20 percent). In addition, NPO 2’s Nieuwsuur (578 thousand) and NPO 1’s Het Familiediner (564 thousand) were the most viewed. Kassa disappointed with 438 thousand viewers (9 percent) on NPO 1 at half past eight.
