A hot and eventful race weekend awaits the fans at the fifth stop of the ADAC GT Masters at the DEKRA Lausitzring (19th to 21st August). Races nine and ten are on the program for the super sports cars, and the fight for the title is entering its decisive phase.
Many drivers still have good prospects in the championship race, but no one can afford to make mistakes given the balance in the field. As part of the supporting program, four other racing series ensure non-stop action on the 3.478-kilometre track in Klettwitz.
In addition to the route, the Family & Friends Festival invites you to a diverse world of experience on Saturday and Sunday. Lots of changes in the table, new leader
Raffaele Marciello (27/CH) from Mann-Filter Team Landgraf showed an impressive performance with his driver colleague Maro Engel (36/Monte Carlo) on the race weekend at the Nürburgring. A win, a second place and two pole positions catapulted the Mercedes-AMG works driver from fifth place to the top of the standings.
With a similarly strong performance, the 27-year-old could extend his lead at the DEKRA Lausitzring and come a little closer to his first title in the German GT Championship. Brand colleagues Fabian Schiller (24, GER) and Jules Gounon (27, GER) made an even bigger leap forward. The combination of Drago Racing Team ZVO improved after the second win of the season from twelfth to second place in the championship table and is therefore the closest pursuer of leader Raffaele Marciello.
In third place, Christian Engelhart (35, GER) and Ayhancan Güven (24, GER) with the Porsche 911 GT3 R #91 from the Joos Sportwagentechnik team are also within striking distance. Sven Müller (30, GER) and Joel Sturm (20, GER) made up nine places in the overall standings and, after two podium finishes in the Eifel, are fourth in the #22 Allied-Racing nine-eleven. Avoidable mistakes and a penalty transfer cost Niklas Krütten (19/Trier) and Ben Green (24/GB) important points.
Nevertheless, the youngster duo in the BMW M4 GT3 with starting number ten from the Schubert Motorsport team was able to hold their own in the top five and come to Lausitz as the leaders in the Pirelli Junior classification.
Home game for Paul Motorsport
The Paul Motorsport team based in Dresden has big plans for its home race. Maximilian Paul (22, DRESDEN) and Marco Mapelli (35, I) want to achieve single-digit finishes at the wheel of the #71 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo. “Our goal is good and consistent results in both races, we have set ourselves the top five. We had good speed in the last race at the Nürburgring. We can build on that,” says Maximilian Paul, setting out the route. The young man from Dresden, who narrowly missed pole position at the DEKRA Lausitzring in 2020, does not see a home advantage.
“The Lausitzring is a technically difficult track with slow corners that merge into one another. If you miss one, the next one will be even worse. I’ve driven a lot of laps here, but that’s not an advantage for the top drivers in the ADAC GT Masters. The Good drivers know all the circuits and only need a little time to get used to the special features. But of course it’s always nice to drive in front of your own spectators.”

The Prototype Cup Germany, which sends Le Mans prototypes into the race, can be seen for the first time as part of the ADAC GT Masters. Hard wheel-to-wheel duels can be expected in the highly competitive ADAC TCR Germany, just like in the junior series ADAC Formula 4.
