After the disappointing performance of the two mixed teams, today’s table tennis continues with the women’s singles. Newcomer Annett Kaufmann has been convincing so far.

She’s only 16 years old, but she’s already pretty ripped off: table tennis player Annett Kaufmann won her second game in the group stage after her first win yesterday and easily made it into the main draw of the European Championship.

In the first set it went back and forth between Annett Kaufmann and Elisavet Terpou until it was 4:4. Then, thanks to strong points with the backhand, the German sat down to 7:4. But Terpou came back and equalized to 8:8. Then Kaufmann crossed the backhand twice again and won the first set 11:8.

Kaufmann started boldly in the second set as well, took every chance to attack and quickly took the lead by 8:1. Only a little later she made everything clear with the 11:2 in the second set.

In the third set, the Greek initially resisted better and stayed on until the 4:4. But then Kaufmann upped the ante again and jumped away to 7:4. But the Böblinger made it exciting again and let her opponent come close to 9:9. Kaufmann got the last two points again and won the match with 3:0. With that, Kaufmann became group winner and moved into the KO round of the top 64.

In the afternoon (4:25 p.m.) Kaufmann’s teammate Frankziska Schreiner is also playing for a place in the main draw.
