Fortuna Düsseldorf turns the game against Greuther Fürth – and the Rhinelanders are unable to save the result over time.
SpVgg Greuther Fürth is still without a win after the fourth day of play. The team coached by Marc Schneider drew 2-2 (1-0) at Fortuna Düsseldorf on Sunday (08/14/2022) because Branimir Hrgota (42nd/78th, penalty kick) used two of the few chances to score. Andre Hoffmann (62nd) and Dawid Kownacki (72nd) scored for Fortuna.
Hennings misses a penalty
The game dominated Düsseldorf for a long time, the lead would have been deserved in the first half. But Hoffmann headed the ball to the crossbar (12′), Christian Gavory snibbled a free kick against the post (32′) – and Rouwen Hennings missed a penalty kick (34′). Andreas Linde parried with his foot.
Then the Fürth took the lead: After a mistake by Düsseldorf central defender Jordy de Wijs, Hrgota lobbed the ball past goalkeeper Florian Kastenmeier, which is well worth seeing. Hoffmann’s headed goal initiated a wild final phase.
Düsseldorf travels to Braunschweig on the next matchday on Saturday (20 August 2022, 8.30 p.m.), Fürth plays Kaiserslautern on Sunday (21 August 2022, 1.30 p.m.).
