After her tragic accident on Friday in Los Angeles, US actress Anne Heche (53) has now been declared brain dead. The machines that keep them alive are due to be shut down soon.

The Ally McBeal star’s family previously announced that Anne is unlikely to survive. Now it is sad certainty. However, Anne’s family only wants to switch off the machines after her last wish has been fulfilled: the actress wanted to donate her organs. It is now being examined to what extent this is possible.

“She has elected to donate her organs and remains on life support to determine if any are viable,” a family spokesman told People magazine.

In the current statement, the Hollywood star’s family says goodbye: “Anne had a big heart and touched everyone she met with her generous spirit. Even more than her extraordinary talent, she saw it as her life’s work to spread kindness and joy – above all, to break the lance for the acceptance of those you love. She will be sorely missed for her brave honesty and bright glow.”

On August 5, the ex-girlfriend of talk show queen Ellen DeGeneres (64) caused a serious car accident in Los Angeles. Her Mini Cooper crashed into a house wall so hard that it caught fire. It took almost an hour for rescue workers to extricate Heche from the burning car, but the actress suffered injuries so severe that she fell into a coma.

A blood test revealed that Heche had cocaine and fentanyl in his system. As a result of the crash, she also suffered severe anoxic brain trauma, as her family announced in a statement.

When the devices are finally switched off, Heche will leave behind two sons: Homer (20) and Atlas (13).
