The Spanish chef and his World Central Kitchen organization have delivered 130 million menus since the beginning of the Russian invasion
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, has personally thanked the work in Ukraine of the Spanish chef José Andrés and his organization World Central Kitchen since the beginning of the Russian invasion of his country, where the NGO has already delivered 130 million menus.
“We appreciate your help to the Ukrainians from the first day of the large-scale Russian aggression and your presence in Ukraine at this difficult time.. Thank you for dedicating an important part of your time to our country“, the Ukrainian president told the founder of the international humanitarian organization World Central Kitchen, according to a statement from the Presidency of Ukraine on Thursday.
Zelenski has praised the role of chef José Andrés as “one of the most famous and influential people in the world”and has underlined the importance of the help offered to Ukrainian citizens, which amounts to more than 130 million menus in almost six months.
“From the first days of the war (…) his organization began to work on the border with Poland for Ukrainian refugees. Later, he became active in many cities of Ukraine (…) More than 130 million meals for our citizens,” the Ukrainian president stressed in the letter.
It has also announced an agreement with the NGO to extend the humanitarian mission in those territories that are gradually liberated from the Russian invasion.

For his part, chef José Andrés made a positive assessment of the meeting with the Ukrainian president about the work of his organization in the country, and thanked the more than 5,000 Ukrainians involved in their project that work in more than 500 establishments distributing food.
“Good meeting today on the humanitarian work of World Central Kitchen in Ukraine helping displaced people and refugees since the first day of this war,” said the Asturian chef based in the United States on his Twitter account.
However, he has shown his willingness to help in those regions that are “unoccupied” by the Ukrainian troops.
