These dog ears with bangs are a little miracle!
They belong to the dwarf donkey foal Caramba, who was born at the Friedrichsfelde zoo at the end of June. To the great astonishment of all employees.
Caramba’s mom, Carmen the donkey, has been given contraceptive injections by the vet for more than a year.
A Tierpark spokeswoman for BZ: “Carmen has already had a number of foals and is very old at 28. That’s why we wanted to take her out of breeding and used contraception for her for the first time in February 2021 and since then very regularly.”
So Carmen is actually already a donkey grandma! But the love between her and stallion Frodo is stronger than a contraceptive shot from the vet!
Carmen has already become a mother nine times. She also raises the unplanned Caramba. And the zoo is happy.
