Family quarrel gets out of hand in West Flemish Houthulst: father (51) stabbed with a knife during an argument with his two sons | wood holly

Residents of the Ooststraat in Houthulst heard a black BMW turn into their street with screeching tires around 6.30 pm. The pimped car parked in front of the house of 51-year-old TA, who would have been present in the house with a friend, his wife and 16-year-old daughter. TA’s two sons, aged 23 and 25, got out. Neighbors say they started arguing with their father on the street. “It was loud,” says one of them.

Both sons would start beating their father. The victim’s friend tried to intervene, but informed the police when he was unable to. A team of the local Polder police happened to be in the area and quickly arrived on the scene. When they arrived, they found a bloodbath. One of the sons had pulled out a large knife in the driveway of the house during the fight. He stabbed his father several times, including at least one in the abdomen. The man collapsed and was bleeding profusely when emergency services arrived. “He was transferred in a very critical condition to the AZ Delta in Roeselare,” said Commissioner Wim Merlevede.

The man will be operated on Wednesday evening. His two sons were handcuffed on the spot. “Both suspects will be interrogated in the course of the evening in the presence of a lawyer,” says Merlevede. “The lab will also be on site tonight for trace evidence in the victim’s home.” TA’s wife was still present in that house. She was taken to hospital in shock. The 16-year-old daughter was upstairs at the time of the facts and was taken care of by acquaintances.

Which of the two sons exactly stabbed the father, remains to be determined. What is certain is that both have been at odds with their families for some time. One son is said to have had no contact with them for two years, while the other son was said to have been evicted three weeks ago. One of the suspects is also said to have been known to the police. The car they drove to Houthulst in was picked up by a tow truck for further investigation.
