In January 2022, Vermont police were called into a burglary at an apartment building on County Road in the town of Stamford. Initial investigations revealed that several bottles of alcohol were stolen from the house. The homeowners were not present. Evaluation of security cameras showed that the burglar was actor Ezra Miller.
On August 7th, charges were brought against the “Flash” star, who was recently in turmoil due to several offences. According to Deadline, he must testify before the Vermont Superior Court in Bennington on September 26.
What does all this mean for Ezra Miller’s career? In the summer it became known that the actor, who is considered non-binary, is said to have verbally attacked a 12-year-old. The parents of an 18-year-old also went to the police, accusing him of brainwashing and kidnapping their child. Miller was also arrested twice before in Hawaii, including for a fight at a karaoke bar.
“Flash” is considered a showcase project
Regardless of all these allegations, which have not yet had any serious legal consequences for Miller, the future of the “Flash” film, which is scheduled for June 2023, is now at stake. So far, Warner Bros. hasn’t changed the date or suggested that the lead actor’s misconduct could be considered a problem.
Sources say the studio has been trying to intercede with Miller for the past few months. This is also reported by “Deadline”. It remains to be seen whether these efforts will bear fruit. In most Hollywood contracts with actors there are clauses that apply to moral offenses and thus enable the studio to limit damage to their image. It remains unclear whether this is the case in Miller’s case. Reportedly, Warner Bros. is very convinced of the blockbuster potential of “Flash” (with Ben Affleck AND Michael Keaton as Batman). Test demonstrations would have triggered enthusiastic reactions.
