Golf pro Matthias Schmid recorded his third top 10 result of the current season at the European Tour tournament in Newport, Wales.
In ninth place, the 24-year-old was nine strokes behind English winner Callum Shinkwin after four rounds on the par-71 course.
Maximilian Kieffer was 57th, twelve strokes behind Schmid. Olympic participant Hurly Long had already failed at the cut after two rounds.
Weeks ago in Nicholasville/US state of Kentucky, Schmid finished eighth in the top ten for the first time on the US tour.
The Franconian’s best result so far this season is third place at the European Tour tournament in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Schmid celebrated his greatest success to date a good eleven months ago with second place at the Dutch Open.
