Para-Canoe World Championships: Felicia Laberer secures bronze

Felicia Laberer gave the German para-canoeists their third medal overall at the end of the World Championships in Halifax, Canada.

The 21-year-old Berliner, who came third in the Paralympics in Tokyo, secured the bronze medal in the KL3 starting class. Only 44 hundredths of a second down on first place, Laberer crossed the finish line in third place, the finish photo had to decide the medal ranks. It is Laberer’s first World Championship medal.

Lillemor Köper and Esther Bode had previously won gold and bronze in the non-Paralympic class VL1 on the first day of competition.

A total of seven German para-canoeists were at the start, the German team in Canada consisted exclusively of women. “I am very satisfied with the performance of the athletes. The good results are a measure of how much our sport has become more professional in recent years.”said national coach Andre Brendel.
