Nine contracts end in 2023
Borussia Mönchengladbach has prematurely extended attacker Alassane Plea’s contract, which ends in 2023, and created facts with a view to the 29-year-old’s recently open future. The Frenchman is now tied to the “foals” until 2025, and the contract also includes an option for a further season.
“Alassane is now in his fifth season with us. The mere fact that he was our overall top scorer in the Bundesliga over the past four seasons shows how important he is in our team. In addition, he is an important element for the football that we want to play as a strong player, a strong striker and a versatile attacker. We are very pleased that Alassane is convinced of our path and sees his future at Borussia,” said Gladbach’s sporting director Roland Virkus about the future direction under new coach Daniel Farke.

Plea switched from OGC Nice to Borussia in 2018 for 23 million euros and has since scored 47 goals and 30 assists and 143 competitive games for the Bundesliga club – he has already made it into the top 20 in the ranking of the club’s top Bundesliga goalscorers. To this day, the offensive man, who is said to have been the second best earner in the team even before his extension, is the most expensive purchase in the club’s history. A total of nine contracts expire at Gladbach next summer, including those of Jonas Hofmann, Yann Sommer and Lars Stindl.
