Total value of 383 million
After two quieter years due to the corona pandemic, the Bundesliga is again aggressive on the transfer market this summer. The spending record of 2019, when the 18 clubs invested a total of EUR 746.99 million for newcomers, is still a long way off, with EUR 444.98 million being the sums from 2020 (EUR 322.1 million) and 2021 (€425.25 million) but surpassed before the first matchday (to compare all leagues). Transfermarkt has created a top eleven from the 268 additions.
This is equally dominated by FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund. With Matthijs de Ligt (22) and Sadio Mané (30), the record champion is responsible for the two most valuable and expensive purchases this summer and is also at the forefront in an international comparison of spending. Together with the duo Ryan Gravenberch (20) and Noussair Mazraoui (24), who came from Ajax, the Munich team form a quartet in the top eleven – only youngster Mathys Tel (17) is not represented by the five Bayern transfers.
The pursuer from Dortmund, who has distributed the millions from the sale of Erling Haaland (21) over several shoulders, has just as many players. Sébastien Haller (28), who will not be available to the black and yellow for the time being due to testicular cancer, Karim Adeyemi (20), Niklas Süle (26) and Nico Schlotterbeck (22) all have a market value of more than 30 million euros and consequently find their place in the top eleven.
The line-up, which consists of only four clubs, is completed by two Leipzig players, Xaver Schlager (24) and David Raum (24), each coming from Bundesliga competitors, as well as goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow (30), who was loaned to Schalke 04 by Hertha BSC became. S04 is the only one of the 18 clubs to start the season with a new number one. BVB (Marcel Lotka, Alexander Meyer), Leipzig (Janis Blaswich) and Union Berlin (Lennart Grill) also strengthened between the posts, but were more concerned with the place of the substitute keeper.
