Den Bosch and Rosmalen are waiting for a carnival season without major events. In Oeteldonk, among other things, the entry of Amadeiro XXVI and that of the youth prince will not take place. In Zandhazendurp (Rosmalen during carnival time) the planned public activities have also been canceled. But behind the scenes, alternatives are being worked on in both places.
A grand welcome from Amadeiro’s Adjudant and an exuberant unveiling and funeral of Knillis on the Market in Den Bosch will certainly not take place. The Oeteldonksche Club of 1882 has announced this, Dtv reports.
The organizing association was forced to cancel the Great Optoch earlier because of corona. “All these organized festivities are not allowed within the current regulations and can no longer be properly organized in the short term,” said a spokesperson.
‘On a crate in the pub’
However, there is hope for the carnival-goers in Den Bosch. The Oeteldonksche Club is setting up a party in the Hoftheater der Amadeiro’s with a limited audience. During this activity, Highness Amadeiro XXVI could still be received and Knillis could also be revealed. Of course there will be a lot of Oeteldonk music and fun. A name has already been devised for the happening: ‘On a crate in the pub’.
“It will all be different than usual, but that should not spoil the fun. We think we’d rather have a little red-white-yellow than no red-white-yellow at all!”, the spokesperson for the Oeteldonksche Club reports. “Because whatever happens, we always celebrate carnival!”
Church service in Rosmalen online?
In Rosmalen, it is being examined whether the church service that is held annually on Carnival Sunday can take place online. The Friends of the Rosmalens Carnival Foundation will also examine whether various events can be moved to spring.
In any case, the children’s parties that were on the agenda in the run-up to carnival have been canceled. The Prince’s Entry, the Children’s Parade, the Carnival Parade, the large carnival breakfast and the 55+ carnival will also be cancelled. The current measures do not allow large groups of people together. At indoor events you currently have to stay seated and the carnival party is not suitable for that, explains the Friends of the Rosmalens Carnival Foundation.
