Rocko Schamoni’s new album wants to be light at the end of the tunnel

Universal artist Rocko Schamoni has solidified a new album. It’s called “All Ein” and will be released on August 26th. The writer and ROLLING STONE columnist recently published his ninth book, Der Jaeger und sein Meister. So now it’s the turn of the twelfth solo record. It hardly needs mentioning that it has been shaped by the circumstances surrounding the pandemic in recent years.

According to Schamoni, this primarily meant working with a laptop “instead of working with outstanding musicians as usual”. Everything is self-produced, everything is self-recorded.

The lack of encounters is then also a big theme in the lyrics of the new songs – and this also means the fear of a missing audience.

“Sometimes more, sometimes less allegorically, ‘All Ein’ negotiates the end of direct communication and tells of the struggle for closeness and exchange,” writes Lebel in a statement. “But Rocko wouldn’t be Rocko if he didn’t do everything to pick up the broken thread and give a signal to all those who, like him, have drifted out onto the still water”.

So “All Ein” is also a kind of attempt to shake hands with the listeners, to show them a light at the end of the tunnel with the help of danceable electro tunes, disco tracks and some cinematic instrumentals and a lot of soul.

It’s not just about the longing for closeness, but also about existential questions. “That’s not me” deals with what it’s like to no longer recognize yourself in the mirror. A feeling that feels completely different for a middle-aged person after a hard, sleepless night than for a teenager coming home after a night of drinking.

Rocko Schamoni will also be on tour for the next few weeks, presented by ROLLING STONE.
