Sébastien Haller was recently diagnosed with a testicular tumor. Now BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl talks about the health of the professional.
The professional Sébastien Haller, who suffers from testicular cancer, has had an operation. This was confirmed by his club Borussia Dortmund. BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl said at a press conference on Wednesday: “He will definitely be out for a few months.” However, a definitive diagnosis is not yet available. The investigations were still ongoing, “the course of therapy is being discussed,” said Kehl.
“The operation went very, very well and he is on a very good path,” said Kehl previously in a published video interview with Dortmund’s shirt sponsor “1&1”.
“Nevertheless, Haller’s profile is missing”
The 28-year-old ex-Frankfurter Haller switched from Ajax Amsterdam back to the Bundesliga for BVB in the summer. “He was super stable and incredibly positive and also said to the team: ‘Do your job, give everything. Make sure that when I come back we’re still in the running.’ And the boys will do that too,” said Kehl.
Whether BVB will be active again on the transfer market is an open question. Coach Edin Terzic had “various options” available, said Kehl: “Nevertheless, Haller is missing the profile. We’re working on different options. But we’ll only do something if it makes sense in the end.”
