Luis Suarez has made his choice. The star striker will end his career in Uruguay. He was last traded at BVB.
Luis Suarez returns to his first professional club. The 35-year-old, currently without a club after a stint with Atletico Madrid, announced via Twitter on Tuesday that he had reached an agreement with Nacional Montevideo. He made his professional debut in 2005 with the 48-time Uruguayan champions.
After playing at FC Groningen and Ajax Amsterdam, Suarez rose to become one of the most dangerous strikers in the world at FC Liverpool (2011-2014), then he had a very successful time at FC Barcelona (2014-2022), with whom he won the Champions League and 2015 won the Club World Cup. In 2020, the record goalscorer for the Uruguayan national team went to Atletico.
Recently there were reports that Suarez had been offered to Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund as a replacement for the seriously ill Sebastien Haller (testicular tumor).
