Aapo Halme returns to HJK.
Aapo Halme played for Barnsley last season. PDO
Aapo Halme, who plays in Toppar, will move to Helsinki Football Club, the club announces.
The contract between Halme, 24, and HJK extends until the end of 2024.
– Over the summer, I’ve been thinking about what would be a good solution, the next step. We reached a good contract with HJK, which is intentionally long: The purpose is to get myself in shape after a broken season, play as much as possible and of course help the team, Halme commented in the club’s press release.
Halme played the previous four and a half seasons in England, where he represented Leeds and Barnsley in the country’s second highest league level in the Championship.
Halme moved to HJK for the first time in 2015 from FC Honga. Toppari was only 17 years old at the time.
Halme continued his journey from HJK to Leeds in January 2018. He won, among other things, the Finnish championship at HJK.
– We at the club are really happy that we reached an agreement with Aapo, especially when we know that there would have been takers elsewhere. Aapo will be a big help for us already this season, both in the Veikkausliiga and in the European games, and of course the contract will bring us continuity for a long time to come, HJK’s sports director Miika Takkula said in the press release.
Halme’s transfer to HJK was the first to report in Finland MTV Sports.
