The Cordovan striker arrives at the Barça subsidiary on loan

The striker has renewed his contract for three more seasons with Málaga

Barça Atlètic has made official that Roberto Fernández becomes a Barça player until June 30, 2023. The front has renewed a contract for three more seasons with Malaga, and now the 20-year-old has joined La Masía in loan quality. This Friday he has successfully passed the medical tests at the Hospital de Barcelona and at the Ciudad Deportiva Joan Gamper.

A few weeks ago there was already speculation that the Cordovan had become wish of the azulgrana club and the striker could set course for the Catalan club. Pablo Guede, coach of the boquerones, had informed the player that he did not have him, since he had a lot of competition such as Rubén Castro, Fran Sol and Loren Zúñiga. Two weeks ago he no longer trained with the Andalusian team, to finish agreeing on the details of the transfer. So now he has decided to wear under the orders of Rafa Marquez, the new coach of Barcelona B, where he will play in RFEF First Division.

Roberto Fernandez arrived at lower categories of the Albicelestes Academy in 2018, to reinforce the youth B. Last season he made the leap with the Málaga first team, with whom he made his debut on August 16, 2021. In this past year he accumulated 1,558 minutes in 32 games in LaLiga SmartBank and two in the Copa del Rey, having added a total of 3 goals.

The Malaguista youth squad has also passed through Puente Genil -the city where he was born-, through the Córdoba and Sevilla youth academies. He is a soccer player with scoring nose, that can add many goals to Barça. Even so, from the azulgrana club they would look for more forwards, since the subsidiary no longer has Ferran Jutglà, who signed for Bruges, nor JOrdi Escobar or Ángel Rodado, who have returned to their teams after the transfers of Almería and Ibiza.
