Ben Green is one of the discoveries of the ADAC GT Masters 2022. The 24-year-old Briton has clinched two victories at the Red Bull Ring together with Niklas Krütten. After six races, the duo is in third place overall. It is already the second attempt for the reigning champion of the DTM Trophy to gain a foothold in GT3 racing.
Green drove a BMW M6 GT3 for Team Century Motorsport in the 2019 season in the British GT Championship. At that time he and his teammate Dominic Paul did not get better than P17 in the overall standings and 13th place in the Pro-Am Cup.
“The big difference is that in the UK it’s Pro-Am racing,” Green told Motorsport-Total.com. Great Britain is one of the last bastions where touring car racing is more popular than GT racing. Therefore, purely professional pairings are not allowed in the UK. There are only the categories Silver Cup, Pro-Am Cup and Am Cup.
“It’s very different racing with amateurs because they can find a lot of time while we’re all pretty much doing the same lap times here,” said Green. In the ADAC GT Masters, on the other hand, it’s all about getting the most out of the two-driver package.
“You have to look at yourself a lot more here and get more out of yourself. In the British GT you have to help your team-mate to be fast. Because he has more potential for improving times than a professional driver.”
Together with Krütten, Green has now attracted attention. The junior pairing still has to confirm its performance on tracks that are less suitable for the BMW M4 GT3.
