New coach Thomas Brdaric has once again used his contacts in Germany to bring a player to Chennaiyin FC in India. Julius Düker is the last foreign new signing from third-division relegated TSV Havelse. Brdaric had previously lured ex-Bundesliga pros Fallou Diagne and Petar Sliskovic to him.
Düker will “fit very well into this young and fresh-looking team that we have put together. His versatility will do the team good,” said owner Vita Dani. The 26-year-old midfielder is the third German professional in the Indian Super League after Manuel Friedrich (14 appearances for Mumbai City FC in 2014) and Matti Steinmann (2020/21 17 appearances for SC East Bengal).
