De Ligt leaves Juventus and signs with Bayern Munich for five years | NOW

Matthijs de Ligt is a permanent player of Bayern Munich. The defender, who has been under contract with Juventus for the last three seasons, signed a contract with ‘Der Rekordmeister’ until mid-2027 on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old De Ligt underwent a medical examination in Munich earlier in the day. Bayern are reported to pay no less than 70 million euros (and possibly another 10 million euros in bonuses in the future) to Juventus. De Ligt still had a contract with Juventus until mid-2024.

De Ligt will play in Munich with former teammate Noussair Mazraoui and former teammate and fellow international Ryan Gravenberch, who came over from Ajax earlier this summer. The Dutch attacker Joshua Zirkzee is also under contract with Bayern.

Bayern left for Washington on Monday for a training camp. De Ligt also boarded a plane to the United States on Tuesday afternoon to join his new teammates there. A friendly game against DC United is scheduled for Wednesday. A meeting with Manchester City will follow at the weekend.
