Axl Rose on Putin – ‘feeling murderous little man’

After the Guns N’ Roses concert in London, Axl Rose thanked his fans and guest singer Carrie Underwood, dedicated the tour to the late Taylor Hawkins – and launched a hate tirade against Vladimir Putin. All in one long tweet.

First of all, the 60-year-old pointed out the difficulties of completing a world tour under corona conditions. The current “Not In This Lifetime” tour also suffered from this. “I would like to thank everyone in London who showed understanding for our challenges. My apologies again to our fans in Scotland as we have had to postpone our performance there.”

In this context, Rose thanked Carrie Underwood, who supported the band at the London gig on “Paradise City” and “Sweet Child O’ Mine” – “at least one person who can sing!”. Then, less flippantly, the singer turns to Taylor Hawkins, the late Foo Fighters drummer. “It feels weird dealing with the severity of something like this in a small post, but we dedicate our tour to our friend Taylor Hawkins. He was a great guy and he’s always been welcome to join our tour for the past few years! What happened is terrible. Our hearts go out to his family, friends, bandmates and everyone who loves him.”

In the end, Axl Rose gets political. “Thank you to everyone who showed their support to the Ukrainians in their noble and sacrificial struggle against an increasingly totalitarian regime led by an uncaring, lying, murderous little man with outmoded ambitions and no respect for human life.”
