10,000 spectators are allowed in the stadium – but without alcohol

More fans are allowed into the stadium again. Not in all of Germany, but in Bavaria. The number is capped, but an audience of several thousand is allowed. FC Bayern Munich also benefits from this.

In the Bundesliga, up to 10,000 spectators are allowed to play again in Bavaria. The cabinet decided on Tuesday in Munich to end the ghost games until further notice. The regulation also applies to other professional leagues.

In addition to the upper limit of 10,000 people, further restrictions apply to the national sporting events: A maximum of 25 percent of the capacities may be used, the fans must be vaccinated or recovered and additionally tested (or boosted) and wear an FFP2 mask. There is also a ban on alcohol.

Söder had already announced going it alone

The Free State is surprisingly daring to go far in the hotly debated audience question against the background of high corona numbers. The heads of state agreed on Monday that the state and senate chancelleries should agree on a uniform regulation for major national events by February 9th. Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) had previously announced that he would dare to go it alone if necessary.

Different maximum limits apply in the states for the admission of spectators: As was previously the case in Bavaria, no fans are currently allowed in the arenas in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Thuringia. On the other hand, third-division leaders 1. FC Magdeburg played against TSV Havelse last Sunday in front of 13,385 spectators. This was allowed by the regulation in Saxony-Anhalt, according to which the stadiums can be filled up to 50 percent. When FC Bayern won at Hertha BSC at the weekend, 3,000 spectators were allowed into the Berlin Olympic Stadium.
