Number of corona patients admitted increases to almost a thousand | Inland

The National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS) makes no distinction in the figures between people who have been admitted because of their corona infection and people who ended up in hospital for another reason and who happened to be infected. The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) does have that distinction. This shows that in the current corona wave, more people actually end up in hospital because of their corona complaints.

In the past day, 150 new corona patients were admitted to hospitals. Except for Tuesday last week, this is the largest influx since April 12, about three months ago.

There are now 926 people in the nursing wards with corona, almost a hundred more than last Thursday. It’s a bit quieter in the intensive care units. Those departments are currently treating 44 people who have tested positive for corona. The crowds have fluctuated around that level since the beginning of the month.

The number of positive corona tests is still increasing, but it is slower than before. Between Sunday morning and Monday morning, 4107 confirmed infections were passed on. Amsterdam (261 positive tests), Rotterdam (149), The Hague (136) and Utrecht (109) top the list as usual.

In the past seven days, RIVM registered 42,517 new cases. That is almost 11 percent more than in the previous week. In mid-June, the number of positive tests on a weekly basis increased by more than 70 percent. RIVM thinks the peak of the summer wave is in sight.
