Amsterdam – Ten years ago every village still had a retirement home. The government has put an end to this for financial reasons. Living at home as long as possible with the help of unpaid informal carers and paid home care is now the rule of the game. For those who are no longer able to do so, there is a nursing home, if there is room there at all. There are hardly any milder forms of housing for the elderly, although we have long anticipated the aging wave.
