As of January 1, 2023, the mandatory minimum cooling-off period for the termination of pregnancies will expire. The Council of Ministers has approved the ratification of the initiative proposal of the House of Representatives, thereby amending the Termination of Pregnancies Act.
There will still be a cooling-off period, but from 1 January 2023, the pregnant woman will determine in consultation with the doctor how long the cooling-off period should be prior to the abortion. At the moment there is a mandatory reflection period of 5 days before an abortion is allowed.
