Russian cargo ship carrying “stolen” Ukrainian grain has left Turkish port | Abroad

According to Marine Traffic, the freighter set sail on Thursday. The last known signal comes from about twenty kilometers from the coast. Meanwhile, a Turkish official has confirmed that the Zhibek Zholy has reached Russian territorial waters.

Earlier in Ukraine there was strong criticism of Ankara because the ship was allowed to dock, despite the call from the Ukrainian ambassador in Ankara to stop the ship. Moscow also admitted on Wednesday that a Turkish inspection had taken place on the ship.

The Zhibek Zholy departed last Thursday from the occupied Ukrainian port city of Berdyansk. The ship would carry a cargo of 7,000 tons of stolen Ukrainian grain, Kiev said.
