Among the Basques’ most expensive purchases

Celta Vigo loses its most valuable professional Brais Méndez (25) to league competitor Real Sociedad. The Basques announced on Wednesday that the attacker, with a market value of 18 million euros, has signed a contract until 2028. According to “Marca”, a fee of 14 to 15 million euros is due for the left foot, which puts him among the most expensive purchases in the club’s history at Real Sociedad. The club never spent more than €15m for an entry.

In the current transfer period, expenses will rise to around EUR 27 million after the purchase of Mohamed-Ali Cho (18) for EUR 12 million, which is only surpassed by Real Madrid in the league with EUR 80 million. Newcomer Méndez was trained at Celta Vigo, where he made the leap to the professional squad in 2018. The Spaniard made 166 appearances for the Celestes, scoring 22 goals and providing 17 assists. He was directly involved in eleven goals last season. In September last year, after a long wait, he was back in the Spanish national team, where he made his debut in 2018. He’s been there four times so far.
