The federal government has wished the German women’s national soccer team success at the European Championship.
The German team will start the tournament against vice-European champions Denmark, said government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit in Berlin. “Not only do we keep our fingers crossed for the women’s opening game, we also hope that our team will finish the tournament successfully.”
Hebestreit recalled at the federal press conference that the European Championships had been postponed by a year. “The Chancellor is all the more pleased and the entire Federal Government is now looking forward to the start of the tournament and the games of our DFB women as well as a peaceful European Football Championship.”
