The southern French coastal city of Nice has reintroduced the mask requirement in local public transport. The reason for this is the increasing number of corona infections.

Mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi said on Wednesday on the RTL channel that the mask obligation for buses and trams will come into force again next Monday. The city on the French Riviera with 340,000 inhabitants is a popular holiday destination. The French government currently recommends wearing face masks on public transport, but it is not an obligation.

As in other countries, the number of new corona cases registered in France has been rising for several weeks.
