Justice has detailed statements from a witness who links the suspected perpetrators of the murder of Peter R. de Vries to the organization of Ridouan Taghi. According to insiders, the person points in the direction of Taghi as the client.
The witness is someone who was close to one or more suspects in the Peter R. de Vries case.
According to insiders, this provides a solid, ‘very incriminating’ substantiation of the assumption that the organization had Ridouan Taghi De Vries shot because he was the confidant of crown witness Nabil B. against Taghi and his co-defendants.
The witness would also confirm during the investigation that Kamil E. should have committed the murder of De Vries earlier, but did not dare.
The statements were sent on Tuesday to the Amsterdam court that is dealing with the Iraklia case about the murder of Peter R. de Vries, and to the lawyers of suspected gunman Delano G. (22) and driver and suspected preparer of the murder Kamil E. ( 36).
Lifetime
The investigation in the case was formally closed on June 30 and verdicts are scheduled for July 14. The question is whether the court wants to make a decision without taking cognizance of the new documents. When asked, a spokesperson for the Public Prosecution Service confirms that the statements have been sent to the parties to the proceedings in the case about the murder of De Vries and to his next of kin. “In the first place, this is because we want to be transparent.” The position of the Public Prosecution Service ‘has not changed’: Delano G. and Kamil E. must get life because they deliberately committed the murder of Peter R. De Vries.
It is exceptional that such potentially important documents are submitted at such a late stage of a criminal trial. The court could briefly reopen the case in order to add the documents to the file for the judges to take cognizance of, but in theory the case could then be closed again immediately so that a decision could still be given quickly.
The lawyers of Kamil E. and Delano G. do not want to respond yet.
Monday three new suspects arrested of involvement in the murder of De Vries. It concerns the 27-year-old Polish Dutchman Kristian M., who allegedly led the murderers through a stream of chilling messages. He was already incarcerated for attempted manslaughter in Zeewolde. He is also suspected of being a member of a criminal organization led by Ridouan Taghi’s nephew Anouar Taghi – who stole cars that were used, among other things, in liquidations. Two other suspects, aged 26 and 27, were arrested in Curaçao and Spain. They are said to have made videos and photos of the shot De Vries around the murder in the Lange Leidsedwarsstraat, possibly to make the social shock as great as possible.
Ridouan Taghi’s lawyer has always firmly denied his alleged role in the murder of De Vries.
