Aleksi Heponiemi has signed a one-year and two-way contract extension with the Florida Panthers, the club announces on its website.

Heponiemi, 23, played six NHL games in the Panthers shirt last season, where he had one assist.

All in all, Heponiemi has played in 15 NHL games in his career, with 1+2 power points.

– Aleksi is a skilled, energetic attacker. We expect him to continue to develop, Panthers GM Bill Zito commented in the release.

Heponiemi played most of the season last season in the ranks of the AHL club Charlotte Checkers. In the AHL, Heponiemi scored 9+30 power points in 56 regular season games.

Heponiemi was part of the Young Lions gold team in 2019.

The Panthers drafted him in the second round of the 2017 draft.
